City of Kansas City, MO is Hiring a Small Business Administrator II (Administrative Officer) Near Kansas, MO

Full-time position available with the Neighborhoods & Community Services Department, BizCare Division located at 414 East 12th Street
Salary Range: $4,619-$6,928/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities
  • Assists business owners with understanding the steps for registering, permitting and licensing their business with the City of Kansas City.
  • Process and issue zoning clearance requests for small businesses seeking a Kansas City, Missouri (KCMO) business license.
  • Utilize computer-based applications for monitoring small business activities, data entry, conducting surveys and collecting information on gaps, analyzes findings and makes reports of practical solutions.
  • Cross-train and network with other city, state and federal departments to understand their charges and processes that impact small businesses
  • Assists in advising city departments and officials through statistical reports about small business activities, along with performance metrics of office initiatives.
  • Assist with marketing of services and initiatives through event participation, newsletters email and online via website and social media platforms
  • Network with various business associations and entrepreneurial support organizations to keep current on services provided and barriers to business development support
  • Prepares and/or presents informational material of KC BizCare services and initiatives to the public and city officials
  • Performs related duties as required.
QualificationsREQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree and 3 years of professional experience in business or public sector administration to include at least 2 years performing administrative and/or supervisory work involving more complex projects or programs; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience with at least 2 years performing administrative and/or supervisory work involving more complex projects or programs.Preference given for biligual. Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
