HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

Administer and develop the urban forestry programs of the City. The work of this position is distinguished by its emphasis on planning, project management, grant writing, cost accounting, public relations, distribution of resources, work evaluation, and budget development. Evaluate trees for hazards and maintenance requirements; review all development plans to ensure compliance with street tree requirements. Coordinate with and inspect work of City construction and maintenance crews, private contractors and developers to ensure compliance with forestry specifications and city ordinances. This position must plan and organize volunteers and contracted resources to maintain and develop urban forestry work. It must develop and maintain effective working relationships with the public, co-workers, and superiors; and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS:

• A Bachelor's degree in Forestry or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• The ability to work flexible hours during inclement weather and emergency management operations.
• Three years' experience in the field of forestry, aerial bucket truck operation, inclusive of crew supervision. Along with additional seminars/training on updated forestry practices.
• Or an equivalent combination of directly related education and/or experience
• Be able to stand for a period of up to four hours and push a weight of 40 pounds.
• Be an ISA Certified Arborist and/or SAF Certified Forester
• Possess Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ)

OUR WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Indoor and outdoor working environment. Outdoor environment included being subjected to hazards from working in an environment of extreme weather conditions. Individual to work forty (40) hours a week, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Perform maintenance scheduled and unscheduled overtime (must be available).
