Summary

Supervises the repair and maintenance of City of Lancaster storm water infrastructure by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervises the repairs to asphalt and concrete pavements, signs, and signal systems.
  • Supervises storm water drainage and MS4 projects.
  • Performs electronic and written employee evaluations.
  • Carries out existing training programs to ensure compliance with all applicable and up to date training in the storm water field. This includes the direction of employees on the proper use of equipment and hand tools to ensure safe use.
  • Prepares cost estimates including budget preparation, documents, specific streets repairs, contract material requisitions, and invoice payments.
  • Schedule projects and specific work for completion per established deadlines and be able to estimate roadway pavement rehabilitation or replacement for future years based on projected depreciation of pavement surfaces.
  • Be able to accurately and clearly communicate information in a format that is easily understood by all assigned personnel including but not limited to task instruction, discipline, policy, etc.
  • Be able to encourage employees to work as a team out in the field.
  • Monitor team productivity and completion deadlines for assignments daily.
  • Facilitates safety meetings on a regular schedule to educate staff on proper safety procedures on the job and in the field.
  • Oversees the review, preparation, and submission of payroll documentation biweekly.
  • Supports both the storm water departments as required to ensure the completion of assigned tasks.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises employees in the Storm water crews. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Valid Class A (CDL) Drivers License
