Closing Date: Monday, September 30th, 9:00 PM [PST] Position: Art Program Leader Department: Parks, Arts, Recreation, and Community Services - MOAH Hourly Range: $18.13 - $20.99 Classification: Temporary Non-Exempt - Overtime Eligible Job Summary: Under general supervision, the Art Program Leader will prepare galleries for exhibits, package artwork, install and transport artwork. The Art Program Leader will assist with the museums' upkeep and maintenance of facilities, including preparing for rental and engagement events, at the City of Lancaster's Museum of Art and History, MOAH: CEDAR, Western Hotel Museum, and the Elyze Clifford Interpretive Center. Example of Duties & Responsibilities:
Prepare gallery walls and other spaces for installation, including patching, painting, cleaning, and making minor repairs.
Safely and knowledgeably handle a variety of artwork, framed and unframed paintings, drawings, photography, sculptures, and multi-media works.
Install artworks based on a layout designed by curators and/or artists which may involve climbing ladders and scaffolding.
Adjust the lighting for each exhibition, moving spotlights on lighting tracks, and replacing bulbs.
Prepare and install gallery signage and labels.
Operate company vehicles to safely retrieve or deliver artwork.
Load and unload artworks into receiving areas, ensuring safe and proper handling techniques are practiced, including crating and uncrating works.
Prepare artwork and objects for storage.
Oversee and maintain supplies, tools, and equipment inventories.
Safely fabricate objects on site with the use of hand tools and power tools.
Keep galleries clean and presentable on a daily basis.
Set up, staff, and tear down events and rentals.
