City of Lincoln Lancaster County is Hiring a HVAC Control/Instrumentation Technician - Wastewater Near Lincoln, NE

Hours: Full time, Monday - Friday; 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
 
This position is located at Lincoln Water Resource Recovery Facility, 2400 Theresa St. Lincoln, NE

This is responsible field work with the primary focus of HVAC system maintenance for Lincoln Transportation and Utilities - Lincoln Water Resource Recovery Facilities. Additional responsibilities include assisting and sustaining functionality of plant control and instrumentation systems, and records management related to HVAC systems, maintenance, and HVAC equipment purchasing.
Examples of work performed include:
  • Diagnosing, repairing, installation of, and maintaining a variety of mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment associated with HVAC systems.
  • Performing preventative maintenance work orders as scheduled in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Facilitate in making improvement or modification recommendations as they pertain to HVAC equipment and systems.
  • Effectively work with outside vendors, consultants, and contractors in the installation, upgrade, and operation of HVAC systems.
  • Assist and sustain functionality of control and instrumentation systems for wastewater treatment operations.
  • Maintain as-built records of HVAC mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems as required by interpreting and updating drawings, schematics, and manuals as required.
  • Assist in the requisition and purchase of HVAC equipment, as necessary.
Strongly Desired Qualifications: Five years of experience in HVAC repair and troubleshooting, HVAC certification.
 
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or equivalent supplemented by completion of vocational/technical training or two-year college degree in electronics or related field plus two years of experience in repair and maintenance of control and instrumentation equipment; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills. 
Necessary Special Requirements: Completion and certification in advanced Programmable Logic Controller or ability to acquire same within 12 months. Possession of a valid driver's license when operating a vehicle is necessary to the satisfactory completion of assigned duties.
  • Knowledge of various types of HVAC equipment, electric, gas, boilers, chillers etc.
  • Knowledge of wastewater instrumentation and control systems.
  • Knowledge of reading and understanding electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Ability to read and interpret record drawings associated with wastewater facilities. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, the public and other employees.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions and terrains.
  • Skill using a laptop, iPad, digital camera, etc., to record and document work order events.
