Job Objective: To provide assistance to the Therapeutic Recreation Program Coordinator in the development of therapeutic programs and activities for children and adults with disabilities for the Department of Parks and Recreation.
This position is designated as a safety/security sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through the completion of Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Rehabilitation Science, Recreation Management or a related area one (1) year of experience in therapeutic recreation, or in developing or teaching recreational activities for children or adults with disabilities, or a related area and one (1) year of leadership or supervisory experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver's License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position.
Must possess Standard First Aid and Community CPR certifications, or other certifications which incorporate Standard First Aid and Infant, Child and Adult CPR, within six (6) months of employment, and maintain certifications for the duration of employment in this position.
Must possess certification with the National Council for Certification of Therapeutic Recreation Specialists within eighteen (18) months of employment, and maintain certification for the duration of employment in this position.
Must be available to work outside normal working hours including shift assignments, nights, and weekends.
