This position maintains the cleanliness and physical appearance of the Littleton Museum, which may include museum buildings, collections building, two historic farm site buildings, and other areas as needed.
 
The Littleton Museum offers visitors a unique link between Littleton's past and present. Located on 40 acres adjacent to Ketring Lake, it encompasses three exhibition galleries, a children's interactive gallery, research center, lecture hall, and two 19th-century living history farm sites.

This part-time position will work 24 hours per week and is eligible for benefits, which includes medical, dental, vision, and paid time off, at 24-hour part-time rates.

Hiring pay range $18.77 - $20.75 per hour
 
This part-time position is non-exempt per FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
 
Work Schedule:  The schedule can be flexible, with a minimum of 24 hours (8 am to 6 pm). Preference to Saturday and Sunday availability.
 
 Application Deadline: Applications will be accepted until finalists are identified or the position is filled, but preference will be given to complete applications received by September 2, 2024. Those who do not apply by this date may or may not be considered.
  • Sweeps and mops floors and/or vacuums carpet.
  • Dusts and washes surfaces. Surfaces include desks, counter tops, fixtures, historic furniture, historic buildings, antiques, appliances, and other cleanable objects in assigned buildings.
  • Cleans and disinfects restroom floors, sinks, toilets, counters, waste bins, and mirrors.
  • Disposes of trash and recyclables in appropriate receptacles.
  • Cleans windows, glass, and mirror surfaces to remove dirt, grease, or fingerprints, etc.
  • Works with supervisor to order cleaning supplies.
  • Observes and follows established City and department policies and procedures in the daily conduct of the job.
  • Plans and arranges work schedule and establishes priorities to complete assigned work within parameters assigned by the supervisor.
  • Moves cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment to clean areas.
  • May remove stains from surfaces such as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
  • Addresses custodial concerns identified by customers.
  • Provides outstanding customer service to visitors and staff.
  • Light yardwork in flowerbeds as needed.
  • Performs other similar assignments and projects as required.
  • May serve as an Emergency Worker.

SECONDARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Works during special events such as crafts fair, harvest festival, and all other museum events as assigned.
  • High school graduate or equivalent, and
  • A minimum of six months experience as a building custodian, or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and work experience that produces the knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position may be considered.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous custodial work in a public-facing environment.
  • Customer service experience in retail, hospitality, childcare, or other similar environments
  • Requires knowledge of the principles and techniques of cleaning floors, restrooms, glass, mirrors, objects, and surfaces within assigned areas.
  • Requires sufficient skill and the ability to: operate push and hand brooms, electric vacuums and buffers; prepare and apply cleaning solutions and waxes; remove dirt, grease, dust, and fingerprints from surfaces.
  • Ability to operate hand and power cleaning equipment; skill, and ability to properly mix cleaning solutions according to manufacturer's instructions.
  • Ability to take initiative and use good judgment when determining when and how to clean specific areas during the shift.
  • Strong attention to detail; ensures that areas are clean and sanitary for visitors and staff.
  • Ability to understand verbal information and instruction.
  • Ability to exchange information with others and to develop and present recommendations.
  • Ability to read and understand written information.
 
 
WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

  • The work is performed mostly indoors in the Littleton Museum.
  • Long periods of standing or walking may be required.
  • Requires frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to 70 pounds with or without assistance; climbing stools and ladders to clean windows and walls; kneeling, bending, stooping, reaching, crouching, and handling to perform essential duties.
  • Work environment includes exposure to noise from vacuums and buffers; odors from cleaning solutions; dust, dirt, grease, water, and chemical compounds.
  • Personal Protection Equipment is mandatory while performing hazards duties.
