Hiring Range: $25.00/Hour

Monday – Friday 7:30 am – 4:00 pm

Part Time Temporary

Definition:

Perform routine chemical analyses on water, wastewater, and related solids and liquids in support of the efficient operations on the water and wastewater treatment plants.

Principal Duties:

· Perform a variety of chemical tests of water and wastewater samples necessary to ensure that plant processes meet water treatment and NPDES permit standards.

· Prepare glassware and equipment for laboratory use.

· Perform mathematical and statistical calculations on test results.

· Maintain and repair laboratory equipment and fixtures.

· Prepare laboratory supply and equipment order lists.

· Maintain, control charts, and quality control data.

· Enter test results in the laboratory computer database.

· Performs essential duties and additional tasks in a manner which enhances City Attributes.

Working Environment:

Work includes exposure to: toxic/caustic chemicals and solutions, noise, open flames, fumes, gases, solvents, oil and grease, electrical energy, slippery walking surfaces, machinery, traffic, computers and water. Work requires occasional physical efforts including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, bending, stopping, kneeling, squatting, and walking and standing for extended periods of time. Eye-hand coordination is needed. Complete color vision and correctable near vision are needed for conducting and analyzing tests.

Qualifications:

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in chemistry and microbiology or closely related field and a minimum of one year of experience performing chemical and microbiological tests in an academic or analytical laboratory. Special Qualifications: Possession of a valid Colorado Driver’s License.
