City of Milwaukie is Hiring a Human Resources Director Near Milwaukie, OR

Milwaukie's next human resources director must enjoy working in a small city government where you can get to know all the employees and build relationships throughout the organization, while also possessing the technical knowledge and skills to implement human resources best practices and innovative solutions to modern workplace problems. The ideal candidate must be comfortable with and able to contribute to the very collaborative and positive work environment that exists amongst directors and throughout the city.
 
The next human resources director will enjoy the flexibility of working at a high-level on policy and also being a hands-on contributor in various human resources functions and serving as the implementation lead for the city's "Support Our Employees" priority outlined in the Milwaukie Momentum strategic plan.
A detailed job classification is available online.This position plans, directs, reviews and contributes to activities and operations of the human resources functions within the city. The director works collaboratively with others to lead in creating a diverse and inclusive work environment where all employees can thrive and do their best work for Milwaukie community members. The human resources director reports to the city manager.  
 
The director is actively involved in the day-to-day work of the human resources department while supervising one other staff member—a human resources analyst.

(Any combination of education and experience that has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential duties of this position. Prior work experience and educational requirements listed are typical ways of obtaining the required qualifications. Other equivalent combinations of education, training and experience will be considered, including unpaid work experience on a year-for-year basis.)

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a degree in human resources, business, or public administration; AND
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible human resources experience including two (2) years of supervisory experience.

Licensing/Special Requirements:

  • Possession of a valid driver license or an acceptable alternative method of transportation which allows the incumbent to perform the duties of the position. 
  • Certification(s) from a professional human resources organization.

Hybrid Work Options: After successful completion of probation, this position is eligible to work remotely up to one day per week in accordance with the city's telework policy.Compensation: The salary range for this overtime-exempt non-represented position is $9,471 – 12,087 per month and is currently under consideration for update pending the outcome of labor negotiations. The starting pay assignment, based on an analysis of the successful candidate's related experience and education as documented on the employment application in accordance with the city's pay equity policy and the Oregon Equal Pay Act, would be no higher than $11,511 per month. A summary of benefits offered to City of Milwaukie employees can be found on the benefits tab of the job posting or on the city's website.
