City of New York is Hiring an Operations Coordinator Near Manhattan, NY

The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) invests in a network of community-based organizations and programs to alleviate the effects of poverty and to provide opportunities for New Yorkers and communities to flourish.
The Office of Intergovernmental Affairs is seeking to hire an Operations Coordinator. Duties will include:
  • Support the work of the agency at public meetings, including but not limited to the NYC Youth Board, Community Action Board, and Interagency Coordinating Council on Youth.
  • Create and maintain system for unit-wide scheduling.
  • Support the unit in ensure the agency complies with various requirements such as reports required under local law and Community Service Block Grant regulations.
  • Create briefing materials for meetings and public events, including information about agency programs within particular geographic areas.
  • Work with the Assistant Commissioner and Senior Director of the Office of Intergovernmental and Public Engagement to create a new create a new program to encourage young people to apply for Passports to enable them to travel internationally.
  • Coordinate international visitors looking to learn about DYCD programming.
  • Explore and research best practices from other government and non-government entities that can benefit the ways that DYCD does business or works with our partners at other city agencies or in the non-profit sector.
  • Work on as-needed projects determined by the Assistant Commissioner or Senior Director.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
  • High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

  • Organizational: Ability to effectively prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to new circumstances. - Subject Matter Expertise: Experience in managing the day-to-day operations of a government office or agency in the areas of finance and budgeting, contracting, human resources management, management of information technology systems, international affairs, program operations, or intergovernmental affairs. - Should be familiar with agency and city information systems. - Outstanding communication skills: Demonstrate effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. - Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a range of people. Team player who can work collaboratively, model kindness and respect for all. Ability to navigate challenges and conflict successfully and patiently, and to achieve buy-in from stakeholders. - Judgment: Highly motivated individual, self-starter who can make solid independent judgment.

Residency Requirement
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
