Professional accounting work covering general accounting and reporting. Will assist in all phases of account maintenance, classification, analysis, and expenditure control of all phases of Citywide fiscal transactions, as well as grant reporting; does other related work as required. 

An employee in this classification exercises considerable judgment in planning, installing, revising and maintaining general accounting procedures and in the preparation of statements and reports. Supervision, at first, is on a day-to-day basis but as experience is gained, becomes more general in nature.

Associate's degreein Accounting or related field, plus two (2) years work experience in an accounting environment.

OR

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field, with some work experience in an accounting environment 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License. 

• Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and standards; 

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers throughout the City;

• Ability to prepare meaningful special and regular financial reports; 

• Ability to prepare accounting, financial and statistical statements and compile basic and supporting data through use of computerized financial management systems; 

• Ability to organize and clearly express information in concise written form; 

• Ability to clearly communicate information verbally;

• Ability to read, comprehend and apply pertinent laws, rules or regulations;

• Ability to detect and reconcile discrepancies in financial records; 

• Ability to work with limited supervision and be able to exercise resourcefulness, concentration and judgment in analyzing and evaluating data and in problem solving;

• Physical ability to perform duties.
