Under limited supervision, performs administrative and technical engineering functions in directing the City's engineering programs. Work involves responsibility for planning, directing, and coordinating engineering projects. Work involves supervising and monitoring the technical and engineering support staff in civil, traffic, and environmental work for the City. Work also involves the review of private development and project design of projects within the City limits. Considerable independent judgment and initiative are required in carrying out program objectives within the framework of engineering and administrative principles and practices and established policies and regulations. Considerable tact and courtesy are required in frequent contacts with contractors, Division Heads, and the general public. Also responsible for oversight of the Engineering and Surveying Division. Reports to the Public Works Director.
