The Pasadena Police Department is seeking an experienced police services paraprofessional to perform a variety of field and office/administrative support duties to support an assigned section: Patrol, Traffic, Uniforms & Equipment, Training, Event Planning or Community Services. The Community Services Officer provides technical support in areas not requiring a sworn officer, such as taking police reports or burglary theft, traffic accidents, creating, overseeing and facilitating various community outreach programs/events, and providing other technical support functions.
The ideal candidate will thrive working in a fast paced environment requiring a highly responsive and confident demeanor and strong critical thinking skills. This position works with a variety of community groups and must possess excellent communication and presentation skills to solicit and engage a variety of individuals in police related community efforts. The following list represents the core competencies needed for success in this position.
Must possess a valid California Class C driver's license and comply with the City's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy during the course of employment.
Successful completion of a comprehensive background investigation is required which may include a review of employment history, criminal conviction record, credit history, use of intoxicants and/or other controlled substances and psychological evaluation.
Successful completion of the state-mandated CLETS training program as required by the California State Department of Justice within six months of date of employment and ongoing maintenance of CLETS certification.
Successful completion of Basic Accident Investigation Training and POST Driver's Training courses must be completed within the six months of employment.
May be assigned to work weekends, holidays, evenings, nights. Depending on the assignment, must be available to work a varying and flexible schedule. May be assigned field and/or office duties.
