The Mayor’s Office of Education is responsible for implementing the Mayor’s vision of a world class education for all students and executing on key initiatives. The Office oversees several city education programs including Community Schools, Adult Education and other programs.
The Mayor's Office of Education is seeking a dynamic and passionate Public Engagement Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to engage the public in education-related initiatives and programs. This role requires strong communication skills, community outreach experience, and a commitment to improving educational outcomes for all residents of Philadelphia.
1. Community Outreach: Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, schools, parents, and other stakeholders to promote awareness of education initiatives and garner support.
2. Event Planning: Coordinate public events, workshops, forums, and town hall meetings related to education policy, programs, and services.
3. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with internal departments, educational institutions, government agencies, and advocacy groups to advance education-related goals and initiatives.
4. Feedback Collection: Collect and analyze feedback from stakeholders to inform decision-making processes and improve the effectiveness of education programs.
5. Volunteer Management: Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers to support education-related events and initiatives.
6. Data Tracking: Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, engagement metrics, and program outcomes to evaluate effectiveness and inform future strategies.
Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Proven experience in community outreach, public relations, or a similar role.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences.
· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
· Experience with event planning and project management.
· Familiarity with education policy issues and the local education landscape.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, social media platforms, and communication tools.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
· Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for events and meetings.
· Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in education.
· Bachelor's degree in education, communications, public relations, or a related field.
