ABOUT THIS POSITION

The Public Works Department Information Technology (PWIT) division provides technical support for more than 110 essential applications that support fleet, solid waste, and facilities management operations. Collaborating with the City, the PWIT division works on critical systems that support the enterprise and provide services to Phoenix residents and businesses.

Public Works is currently seeking to fill two Lead User Technology Specialist (LUTS) positions to facilitate the management of IT incident response and IT support teams. The LUTS positions will work to restore services as quickly as possible while identifying the root causes of any incidents that occur.

The LUTS will represent PWD as a LAN administrator and provide technical support for division business solutions. Some operational activities will include managing Active Directory (AD), user identity, user device procurement, cyber security, and work order ticketing, along with server and storage coordination. These roles will act as the top-level technical support responding to critical escalations, and supervise User Tech Specialists.

There are two vacancies for this role: one is a regular full-time position and the other one is a temporary position. The temporary position is currently funded through September 30, 2024, with the possibility to be made a permanent position in a future budget cycle. The temporary position will have benefits but will not earn city retirement credits or participate financially in the city's retirement program. If the successful candidate is a current City employee, all benefits will still be applicable, and the employee will still contribute to their pension. Temporary positions are not covered under civil service rules, and thus employment is considered `at-will' and employees may be separated at any time.

These positions are not eligible for telework.
