City of Richmond (CA) is Hiring an Extra Duty/ Outside Coordinator Near Richmond, VA

The City of Richmond Police Department is seeking qualified, self-directed, and detail oriented candidates for the Extra Duty/Outside Coordinator position. This role is responsible for providing supervisory oversight of all operational and administrative services within the Outside Employment Unit. This pivotal role involves managing police outside employment services, including contracts, vendor billing, job pool selection, job coordinator selection, and overseeing ongoing extra-duty jobs to ensure compliance with established guidelines. Additionally, the Coordinator will collaborate with external agencies and vendors to ensure seamless logistics for each assignment.

  • Supervise unit personnel, providing direction, addressing personnel issues, and fostering a productive work environment.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external investigations pertaining to outside employment activities.
  • Attend meetings and deliver presentations, offering insights and recommendations to the Executive Officer and Officer in Charge of Special Operations as required.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by working a schedule that may include occasional weekends.
  • Act as a liaison with the Special Events Division to facilitate coordination and communication.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, or field related to assignment
  • Four years of journey-level professional experience in area related to assignment, such as program/project management or management/policy/financial analysis
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Two years of experience in an area related to the assignment, such as assistant with program or project administration and management analysis. 
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts and address personnel-related issues professionally and discreetly.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Due to the nature of work assignments, incumbents must be able to perform detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks, with frequent interruptions and under time constraint. The essential duties of this classification may require the ability to regularly talk, hear, see, and perform repetitive motions; frequently reach and finger; and occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, push, pull, lift, walk, grasp, and feel. The working conditions may not include environmental hazards. In terms of the physical strength to perform the essential duties, this classification is considered to be sedentary, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.
