Nature of Work
This is a part time position at the City's indoor skating rinks at the Recreation Center. The Skate Attendant (aka Skate Guard) issues rental skates, and ensures that all patrons follow the facility rules for safety purposes. Additionally, the skate attendant may be required to assist with various duties to ensure the skating areas and locker rooms are clean, orderly, properly maintained and safe. This position must be able to interact with the public in a professional, courteous, and helpful manner.
Work Schedule:
Work shifts are flexible and may vary, with a max of 14 hour per week. Shifts would include afternoons, evenings, and weekends as needed.
Hours of Operations:
Monday-Friday: Late afternoons and evenings
Saturday and Sunday: Afternoons and evenings
PAY RATE: 2024 starting pay rate is $13.66 to $16.81 per hour based on experience.

Applicants must:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of: ice skating is helpful, however training will be offered to all employees
Skill in: providing excellent customer service; and working with children.
Ability to: deal tactfully with the general public in person and on the phone; and understand and carry out oral and written assignments
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CRITERIA

Work is primarily done while standing, with a combination of bending, stooping, kneeling, pulling, pushing, and reaching also necessary.
Work is performed indoors, but with exposure to the cold.
