The City of Rohnert Park's Animal Shelter Department is currently looking for a Part Time Human Educator Camp Leader to assist at the 2024 Kidz 'n Critter Summer Camps. This position supervises school-age campers to assure safety; assists with preparing the camp schedule, arts and crafts activities and handout materials; and role models respect and a humane attitude to the campers.This position will be required to work Monday - Friday (flexible hours). DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS A Part-Time Senior Community Services Leader is responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising various recreational programs and activities. The incumbents serve in a leadership capacity and direct the work of lower-level staff. The Part-Time, Senior Community Services Leader is distinguished from the Community Services Coordinator in that the latter has responsibility for organizing and coordinating a variety of Community Services' programs, activities, and special events. SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED The incumbents receive general supervision from the Animal Shelter Supervisor. These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.
Assists with planning, operating, and supervising a Community Services' program site and various recreational programs and activities
Supervises the issuance, use, care, and maintenance of equipment and supplies
Supervises campers as they safely handle and socialize with Shelter animals
Ensures observance of work schedules and assigns duties to be performed by lower-level staff
Maintains safety and program discipline
Ensures the safety of the public and staff by inspecting and maintaining facilities and equipment
Completes necessary reports and maintain accurate records of programs, participants, staffing, and inventory of equipment and supplies
Enforces all regulations pertaining to the health and safety of program participants and the public
Maintains a list of needed supplies and orders them when necessary
May present information about animal in a fun, creative way to campers
May be assigned as a Disaster Service Worker in the event of a disaster or emergency
Performs related duties as assigned
Sufficient education, training and/or experience to perform the required duties of a Part-Time, Senior Community Services Leader.
EDUCATION/TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE:(positions in this class typically require)
Any combination of education, training and experience which likely provides the required knowledge and abilities.
Two years of college and/or previous experience working in recreation programs with increased responsibility and some experience in a leadership capacity.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: (positions in this class typically require)
Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License and a good driving record.
Current and valid Basic CPR Certificate and First Aid Certificates.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Per California State law, smoking is not permitted inside City facilities/vehicles or within 20 feet of main entrances, exits, and operable windows.

Positions in this class require sitting, prolonged standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping in the performance of daily work activities. Positions require grasping for, setting up and taking down recreation equipment. Additionally, positions in this class require near and far vision. Hearing is required when providing phone and face-to-face customer service. The ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and supplies up to 75 pounds is required. May be exposed to fumes from cleaning products.
