About the Position
We are hiring a Planning Manager to join our dynamic Planning Division with the Planning and Economic Development team. The position will lead a team responsible for advancing initiatives including equity, resiliency, housing and economic development as prioritized by the Mayor's Office and comprehensive plan.
Here is what you can expect to do:
  • Oversees zoning ordinance administration, HUD and State-mandated environmental review, Planning Application business process improvement and coordinates site plan review.
  • Provides policy recommendations, identifies program needs, and may directly support the leadership team
  • Supports citywide zoning studies, text amendments and district planning efforts.
  • Participates in and makes recommendations for interviewing, hiring, and promotion processes.

Position Requirements

Ten years of progressively responsible experience in urban planning, housing development, economic development, public administration, or financial management.
NOTE: An Associate's Degree in a related field may be substituted for two years of work experience. A Bachelor's Degree in a related field may be substituted for four years of experience. A Master's Degree in a related field may be submitted for six years of experience.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Eligible Lists: Eligible lists are typically created from a pass/fail assessment. Those who pass the assessment will be placed on an eligible list for approximately six months. Hiring Managers may interview/hire anyone from the list.
Final Selection Process: You must receive a score of 75% or higher to pass the assessment and be considered for the position. Those who pass will be placed on an eligible list and all will be notified of their status. A Hiring Manager will consider those applicants eligible for hire. You will be notified if you are invited to participate in the final selection process which may include an interview, job simulation, work sample submission, or other evaluation method.
Pre-Employment Screening: This position requires a background check which may include criminal history, and employment history as a condition of employment. Candidates will be required to submit proof of education to Human Resources upon conditional job offer, if qualifying based on education.
