The Recreation & Leisure Services Department is responsible for providing recreational activities for all ages in the City of Savannah and surrounding communities. We look to develop youth through continuous learning opportunities involving after school programs in our community centers, a variety of special events, athletic leagues, swim lessons, summer camp as well as programs for those with developmental disabilities.
In this role you will be responsible for developing and providing computer training to staff and the public through a network of community centers, assisting with management of online content, and serving as lead trainer/facilitator for the department's cloud-based recreation management software.

Essential Job Functions

  • Prepares and provides beginner to intermediate computer training for employees and customers in a variety of topics, including but not limited to basic computer use, computer safety, office software applications (e.g. word processing, typing, email/calendar software), online and other applications as appropriate.
  • Develops lesson plans, course outlines, and other instructional materials that are suitable for a variety of age groups and levels of ability.
  • Operates a variety of equipment such as computers, printers, copier, projector, etc.
  • Works with department staff to review and manage online content and maintain current information on department website and other online platforms.
  • Develop rules and guidelines for use of computer lab equipment and periodically monitor computer lab to ensure equipment is being properly used and maintained.
  • Trains center personnel and center patrons on proper use and care of equipment.
  • Participates in approved software training in order to stay abreast of software updates, to build personal knowledge and skills, and to improve and expand the variety of computer training available to staff and patrons.
  • Maintains accurate inventory of computer and software assets.
  • Creates and manages department database files and manages customer-based recreation software applications.
  • Serves as lead contact for computer applications managed through outside vendors; maintains proficiency in use of vendor software, serving as program administrator and training other department personnel.
  • Supports and participates in department and inter-department programs as needed.
  • Ensures that interactions with users are courteous, clear, and understandable.
  • Provides excellent customer service and demonstrate commitment through cooperative team and individual efforts.
  • Maintains accurate records and documentation of work performed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Associates/Vocational technical degree in a related computer field supplemented by two (2) years of experience working with and providing instructions in Microsoft Office suite programs, or other similar desktop, internet, or business applications; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
Additional Requirements
Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen; and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.
