Service Worker – Utility ServicesSummary Of PositionPerforms a variety of functions related to inventory and non-inventory control for the Electric and Water/WW departments. Assists with the general maintenance of the Utility Warehouse, docks, and yard facilities.
Examples Of Work
Demonstrated ability to: Perform CPR; lift and maneuver up to 112 lbs. (i.e. loading and unloading stock materials and supply items).
Ability to: Understand and follow verbal and written instructions; maintain records and files; put documents in numerical or alphabetical order; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other city employees and the general public as well as vendors.
Other: may handle toxic and/or hazardous materials or work in areas where such materials may be stored.
Acceptable Experience And TrainingHigh school graduation or its equivalent;
Certificates And Licenses RequiredState of Texas Class C driver's license. CPR Certification.
Starting Pay: $16.40/hour

Examples Of Work
- Checks out material to electric and Water/WW Maintenance Department crews;
- Checks out and keeps up with tools (i.e. hand tools, drills, saw-all, hypress tools, chop saws, tampers, shovels, etc.);
- Maintains accurate inventory and stock levels including electric, water and wastewater collection material;
- Receives, verifies and stocks shelves with inventory and non-inventory items as well as receives and returns to inventory material checked back in by crews;
- Responsible for the fulfillment of inventory orders for both Electric and Water crews for upcoming jobs as well as collecting all materials for projects for check out, when needed.
- Assists with monitoring the upkeep and inventory count of all materials on a periodic basis, when needed.
- Keeps the warehouse organized and clean;
- Observes safety rules and procedures;
- May unload freight, load freight and move material for other departments with forklift; and
- Performs such other duties as may be assigned.
