Class Title

This is a senior-level position in the Field Operations Division.

Duties

• Plants / Sewer Lift assignment will lead and direct work teams; plan for construction projects; prepare plans for future facility needs;
• implements improved operational and mechanical procedures. May perform or oversee the performance of the following duties : troubleshoots operational and mechanical issues;
• performs preventive maintenance on all assigned equipment; performs reactive maintenance as required; picks up equipment parts from vendors;
• installs, repairs or replaces functional parts and components; routinely inspects plant equipment and facilities; washes down and cleans out basins as required;
• adds grease and oil to pumps; replaces air filters; operates radio; completes work orders and basic forms; performs and maintains housekeeping standards;

understands basic electrical safety; operates forklift, weed-eater, and tractor / bush hog; repairs fences and wooden structures.

All Maintenance Specialist III's will be able to perform any of the tasks required of a Maintenance Specialist I or II employee and may be called upon to do so if required.

Responsible for maintenance of buildings and grounds. Responsible for fueling rental pumps. Responsible for maintaining inventory of assigned tools & equipment, as well as proper operation, care and security of assigned items for performing work assigned and reporting

needed repairs and loss of equipment and tools. Demonstrates knowledge and use of computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and related documentation procedures. Initiates work orders.

Maintains job safety standards (personal protection equipment, etc.); complies with City of Shreveport vehicle safety rules;

trains new team members on safe work practices. Regularly attends required safety, job related and certification training classes as required.

Subject to be on call 24 / 7. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Minimum Qualifications

1). High School Diploma or GED.

2). Valid State Vehicle Operator's License with class applicable to assigned position.

3). Associates Degree or two year vocational degree from an accredited college in mechanical, electrical, or welding and two years of experience in operations and / or maintenance or four (4) or more years experience as a Maintenance Specialist II or in industrial / environmental operations and / or maintenance, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Lucas Plant assignment - Hold or be able to obtain Class 3 Wastewater Treatment and Wastewater Collection Certificates issued by the State of Louisiana, Dept.

of Health and Hospitals within 3 years.

Physical Requirements : Position may require moderate to extensive stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions, along with some combination of climbing and balancing;

may be subject to sitting for prolonged periods of time at a keyboard or workstation. Position requires abilities to consistently lift and / or move up to 25 pounds, 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally.

Work Environment : Work is performed outdoors and / or indoors with exposure to noise, dirt, grease, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, fumes, animals, insects, chemicals, treated / untreated sewer, treated / untreated water, inclement weather, machinery with moving parts requiring use of protective devices and computer screens.
