The City of Soldotna is recruiting for a summer on-call Library Page.This position is open until filled, with a first review of applicants June 11th 2024.Under the direction of the City Librarian or their designee, the Library Page helps to provide public access to library materials by ensuring library materials are readily available in an organized and accurate order. This position will run from June 17 – August 17, 2024.Must be able to work a flexible schedule Monday - Saturday. Days and hours will vary.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Performs a variety of routine manual library support tasks including checking in, sorting, shelving, stacking, retrieving a wide variety of library materialsMaintains Library materials according to alphabetical and Dewey Decimal systemsConducts shelf reading for accuracy and shifts and transports books and other library materials to assigned areas of the library as directedAssists in keeping all areas of the library in a clean, neat, and orderly condition and public office supplies stockedPacks, unpacks and distributes library shipmentsProcesses new library materials for circulationMends damaged materialsAssists in program and display set-upOperates standard office equipmentPerforms related duties and responsibilities as assigned
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
This is an entry level position.Work Environment: Work is performed in an open office or meeting room setting, adequately heated, lighted, and ventilated.Physical Demands: Performs a wide range of physical motions, which may include routine and repetitive bending, stooping, reaching and pushing, moving and carrying library materials. Must be able to repeatedly lift books weighing between 1 and 10 pounds, including overhead lifting, and to push book trucks weighing excess of 50 pounds.
