City of St. Paul is Hiring a Recycling Programs Specialist Near Saint Paul, MN

About the Position

Join us! We are hiring Recycling Program Specialists who will work with the Department of Public Works solid waste and recycling team. We are looking for team members that have experience working with recycling, waste diversion, and/or community programs. The position may require occasional evening or weekend hours and is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that includes a balance of work on-site and remote.
Here’s what you can expect to do:

  • Organize recycling, waste reduction, and reuse events for residents.
  • Develop and participate in educational, outreach, and community engagement activities.
  • Provide program information and customer support to community partners and the public.
  • Use data management tools to track inquiries from the public and evaluate program activities for recycling, solid waste, and organic waste management programs.

Position Requirements

A Bachelor's Degree in Ecology, Environmental Studies, Natural Resources Management, Public Administration, or equivalent. Or, a combination of education and progressively responsible experience to include professional work with recycling, waste, or resource management programs and projects to equal four years.
Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License, or equivalent out-of-state driver's license.

Governance The utility is governed by the Board of Water Commissioners, which consists of three members of the Saint Paul City Council, two Saint Paul citizens, and two representatives for the suburbs served by SPRWS. Administration The utility has four divisions - business, engineering, distribution, and production. Each operates under the direction of a division manager.
