City of Stafford is Hiring a Court clerk Near Mesquite, TX

POSITION SUMMARY : Under the direction of the Director of Municipal Court, the Senior Court Clerk will perform a broad range of clerical duties related to court activities in compliance with state / local laws and city policies.

Collect and properly record into cash receipts and the General Ledger all incoming payments and the set-up of payment plans.

Take appropriate action for delinquent payments. Properly print and file all necessary daily reports; prepare and reconcile daily deposit.

  • Review disposed cases for accuracy.
  • Download E-ticket daily, print docket sheets and labels. File case jackets for arraignment docket.
  • Receive, log, and index incoming filings, citations, and complaints ; review for accuracy and keep proper filing records to clear warrants.
  • Prepare all pre-trial information and notify appropriate parties .
  • Receive incoming telephone calls, office visitors and handle mail or night drop to process money, correspondence and answer inquiries.
  • Notarize documents for municipal court purposes.
  • Process witness and juror subpoenas and supervise juror response.
  • May assist Municipal Court Judge during trials; enter all resets into the computer.
  • Process cash, surety, PR bonds and clearing holds in SETCIS / OMNII.
  • Review and process cases involving insurance, inspections and license plates.
  • Obtain completed affidavits and information on person being complained on and complete citation.
  • Process Jail term Credit and other non-cash credit as instructed by Municipal Judge.
  • Process Payment Authorities for Invoices of Service.
  • Monitor the online payments program.
  • May be required to train new staff in court procedures.
  • Required to participate in training programs and education to keep current with laws as required.
  • Process open record requests in absence of the Court Director.
  • Maintains accurate, updated, timely and organized paperwork, dockets, warrants and collections processed by the court.
  • Possess knowledge of the operations and maintenance of court computer system, on-line pay systems, security protocols and links to state agencies and other court resources.
  • Prepare summons for jurors, witnesses and officer s ubpoenas
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Subject to 24hour recall : The City reserves the right to require an employee in this position to work overtime including during emergency situations (defined as any natural or man-made disaster that may or may not necessitate the relocation of City personnel or citizens).
  • Knowledge of general office duties such as filing, typing, computer input, mathematical calculations, and telephone operations.

High School diploma, GED or equivalent, and three (3) years of administrative / clerical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Municipal Court clerical experience preferred. Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Must be eligible to obtain Notary Public.

Positions in this class typically require climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Light Work : Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and / or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

If the use of arm and / or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
