POSITION: MAINTENANCE ATTENDANT II STREETS

POSITION NO: 7.170

DEPARTMENT: Public Works

SALARY RANGE: $18.95 - $20.84 per hour

This is heavy manual work involving limited semi-skilled tasks in a variety of maintenance and construction projects. Responsibilities include performing semi-skilled labor tasks, including using applicable tools; operating equipment, and operating light- and heavy-duty equipment including, but not limited to: bush hog, flail, backhoe, trucks, tractors, chainsaw etc. Employee must be aware of the various occupational hazards and observe proper safety precautions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions related to heavy manual labor work; ability to guard against various occupational hazards and observe proper safety precautions.
• Knowledge of the tools and equipment used in general maintenance work.
• Ability to operate light- and heavy-duty trucks, tractors, and small automotive equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability perform tasks requiring physical strength and endurance.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and the public.
• Ability to lift, carry, pull, push, and maneuver bulky and heavy materials; lifting of objects up to 75 pounds and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds overhead.

Training, Certification, and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience in manual work, including experience in operating equipment used in street, tree trimming, and storm water maintenance.
• Or, an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Special Requirements

• Valid Florida driver’s license.
• Valid Florida Class “B” driver’s license or must obtain license within six months of employment.

The City of Temple Terrace is a drug-free workplace.
