STARTING SALARY: $17.76 - $19.54 per hour

POSITION: Recreation Leader II * Fitness

POSITION NO: 5.216

DEPT: Leisure Services – Parks & Rec.

This is responsible work in a lead capacity overseeing the Parks and Recreation Division’s fitness-related programs. Responsibilities include organizing and supervising fitness programs and other related activities. Evening and weekend hours may be required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Working knowledge of public parks and recreation philosophy and objectives and the principles, practices, and techniques used in organizing and directing fitness activities.
• Considerable knowledge of fitness-related equipment and programs.
• Ability to plan, implement, and coordinate fitness-related activities and programs.
• Ability to maintain records and compile reports.
• Working knowledge of first-aid methods and safety precautions.
• Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and the public.
• Ability to lift, carry, pull, push, and maneuver materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

Training, Certification, and Experience

• Minimum four-year college degree in Physical Education or Parks and Recreation.
• Minimum of one year Parks and Recreation experience.
• Or, an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Special Requirements

• Valid Florida driver’s license.
• Possess American Red Cross First Aid, Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED), or ability to obtain certifications within six months of employment.

Copies of required certifications must be submitted with the application.
