POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

CHILDREN AND TEENS LIBRARIAN

City of The Dalles

Closing Date: Open until filled, first review July 16, 2024

This is a full-time, Union eligible position subject to pre-employment background check. Under the direction of the Library Director, incumbent performs professional library activities while sharing responsibility for children and teen services. Works in an environment within the library with occasional travel related to community engagement and professional development. This is a full-time position, requiring flexibility in scheduling, as some programs require evening and weekend hours.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be:

Education: Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree and at least two years relevant library experience, or any satisfactory combination of education and experience to successfully perform the duties of the job.

Experience: At least 2 years prior experience in youth services. Experience includes reading, viewing and learning habits of youth; and, experience in youth reader's advisory and reference; and, experience with technology and social media.

Training: Keyboarding, computers/technology, and social media.

Compensation:

The current wage range for this position is from $26.18 to $31.26 per hour.
