The City of Tomball is accepting applications for the position of Facilities Maintenance Crew Chief in the Public Works Department. This position will maintain and ensure the optimal functioning of all municipal and public buildings and facilities. This individual coordinates repairs, manages contracts, and oversees various maintenance activities to promote a safe and healthy environment for city assets and facilities. Exercising discretion and judgment, the Crew Chief is tasked with troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, project management, and effective communication.

Education and Experience - An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
Education: HS_GED
Experience: A minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience is required.
Licensing: Driver's License
Facilities Maintenance Crew Chief's role within the big picture of the City's overall success.
Maintains and ensures the optimal functioning of all municipal and public buildings and facilities. This individual coordinates repairs, manages contracts, and oversees various maintenance activities to promote a safe and healthy environment for city assets and facilities. Exercising discretion and judgment, the Crew Chief is tasked with troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, project management, and effective communication.
Facilities Maintenance Crew Chief functions include but are not limited to the following.
  • Maintenance and Repairs: Perform maintenance, repairs, and construction activities on city assets and facilities. Troubleshoot and handle issues related to plumbing, electrical, roofing, HVAC, and more. Move and assemble office furniture and manage tasks like painting, flooring, and fencing.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Ensure city assets are safe and function properly. Conduct equipment checks, including lubricating parts, changing filters, and cleaning lines. Insulate water lines and backflows, clean roofs, gutters, and downspouts.
  • Contractual Work Coordination: Coordinate and oversee the quality and completion of contractual work. Consult with contractors on necessary repairs, remodels, and projects. Review plans and ensure that the work aligns with them.
  • Project Management: Obtain multiple quotes for repair tasks and larger projects, ensuring compliance with city guidelines. Ensure timely completion of projects and work to avoid disruption of city operations. Schedule contractors around other activities to ensure uninterrupted day-to-day operations.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain a comprehensive inventory of materials and parts. Communicate with vendors to ensure competitive pricing for essential parts.
  • Communication & Reporting: Keep all relevant parties informed about maintenance activities and financial expenditures. Email stakeholders for scheduling, pricing, and other relevant details. Respond to work orders promptly and provide regular updates on progress.
  • Contribute to the team effort by performing other related duties as assigned.

SALARY:
Hiring range - $48,402 - $50,822 ($23.27 - $24.43)
