The City of Valdez Parks & Recreation Department is hiring Gym Attendants to monitor open gym times at Valdez City School facilities. Under direct supervision of a Recreation Coordinator or Recreation Staff III or IV, this position assists in monitoring adults and youth during open gym times along with enforcing rules and policies of the PRCS department. This is a temporary position to work approximately 15 hours per week. This position may monitor/supervise all ages. This position may work various hours per week, to include, evenings, weekends, and holidays.Rate of pay is $14.36 - $15.54 per hour, non-benefited. Positions are open until filled, review of applications begins May 30, 2024. Minimum qualifications: Minimum 16 years old or older.Experience in volunteerism or participation in recreational activities is desired.Obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR Certification within 1st month of work.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Primary duties and responsibilities: Provide customer service to program patrons.Assists in general recreation programs at an assigned facility, center, or event.May perform cleaning and general maintenance.Maintains order and discipline by enforcing rules, regulations and safety precautions.Works in a safe manner and reports unsafe activity and conditions and intervenes when necessary.Acts as a team member maintaining a cooperative attitude with employees, supervisors and staff.Perform specific duties as outlined per activity, program or event.Assists with activity planning and event record keeping.Maintains facility security.Must render aid, call 911, stabilize injuries until assistance arrivesEnforces patron conduct protocols for immediate suspension or ejections for up to 24 hrs, as outlined in Rules of Conduct.Other related duties as assigned.
