City of Virginia Beach is Hiring a Survey Technician, #42062 Near Virginia, VA

The City of Virginia Beach Public Works Department is hiring a Survey Technician to perform the following duties:

  • Receive survey, drafting and computation requests, conduct related research, and collect information including plats, deeds, and plans necessary
  • to perform field survey work and drafting to meet deadlines
  • Conduct research and collect information for use by other City agencies and general public
  • Review and process data from field survey operations and drafting to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Review property, subdivision and acquisition plats, deeds and construction plans for engineering staff and other City agencies to ensure the accuracy and adequacy for recordation
  • May assist with post-process hydrographic, scanned and GPS data to produce drawings
  • Perform advanced calculations for traverse closures, adjustments, volumes, boundary information, construction alignments and grades, acreage, and right of way and easement acquisition to ensure the complete and accurate preparation of all engineering drawings
  • Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less. Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on then current workloads and department needs
  • Read and understand deeds, wills, subdivision plats, VDOT and construction plans, subdivision ordinance, DPOR rules and regulations, Code of Virginia, and Library of Virginia standards
  • Schedule and complete work efficiently, maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and City officials
  • Resolve job related and citizen's problems in a courteous and timely manner; and properly resolve complex field surveying problems
