The Part-Time Park Laborer will be involved in various grounds maintenance duties and assigned projects throughout the West University Place parks system. This includes, but is not limited to reporting, trash pick-up and disposal, playground system maintenance and landscape maintenance. This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking evening and weekend employment.

Essential Duties Include:

• Picks up waste from grounds and empties trash containers throughout assigned parks and public spaces; performs janitorial and porter duties as needed.

• Performs a variety of maintenance duties including raking, watering plants and trees, sweeping, etc.

• Assists in park inspections to ensure the safety of the public and park facilities; note possible safety hazards or causes of injury and react accordingly; perform general maintenance and repair to park facilities as required.

• Operates a variety of tools and equipment including trucks and leaf blowers.

• Prepares reports and maintains records as directed.

• Follows all prescribed safety policies and procedures at all times.

• Responsible for caring for and properly maintaining all equipment and supplies issued.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects.

While performing the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee may be exposed to seasonal temperatures, the sun for extended periods of time, wet or humid conditions, blood borne pathogens, body fluids of others, and toxic & caustic chemicals. The noise levels in the work environment can be moderately loud on occasion.
