JOB
This is golf course maintenance work carrying out an established routine maintenance program, performing specialized tasks as directed by the Golf Course Maintenance Supervisor (Golf Course Superintendent) and assisting the supervisor as assigned at a municipal golf course. Work includes training and supervision of other employees. This position requires a flexible work schedule that includes weekends and holidays. The Assistant may assume the duties of the Superintendent in his/her absence.Hours and days of work will be determined at the time of hireBargaining Unit: Service Employee's International (SEIU)**Employees within the department of division shall be given first consideration**
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Ensures that plans and assignments are completed.Inspects courses and reports conditions to the Superintendent.Trains, supervises and evaluates the performance of employees.Determines irrigation requirement for the golf course.Participates in complex maintenance tasks and repairs.Maintains activity records.Performs preventative maintenance and repair of the irrigation system.The examples of work performed are not intended to be all-inclusive.The City of Wichita reserves the right to assign additional duties and responsibilities as needed.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Two years of work experience in horticultural maintenance work specializing in landscaping and golf course care preferred.One year of supervisory experience required.Class 3B Kansas Commercial Pesticide Applicator license required.Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need of a sponsorship.
