Position Summary
The City of York's Bureau of Housing Services is seeking a dedicated and self-motivated intern to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in public policy, community development, and housing services. Under the guidance of the Deputy Director, the intern will have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that directly impact our community.
Please note that this position is unpaid, but the experience and knowledge you will gain from working directly with experienced professionals in the field will be invaluable. If you are passionate about community development and looking for an opportunity to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply.
Essential Functions

  • Conduct research on HUD sponsored activities, community development programs, and related policies.
  • Assist in data collection and analysis to support decision-making processes.
  • Help advance community partnerships that enhance the effectiveness of our programs.
  • Provide support for all other related office processes as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to carry out complex ideas and work independently.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Current enrollment in a public policy, community development, or related degree program.

Minimum Acceptable Training and Experience
Must pass a background check, Drug Test and the PA Child Abuse History Clearance check. Note: Child Abuse History Clearance must be dated within one year from the date of application and must show that "no record exists".
Additional Information:
  • This is an unpaid internship.
  • The intern will work 25-40 hours per week.
  • The duration of the internship will be determined based on the department's needs and the intern's availability.
All full-time employees are offered Medical, Dental, Vision and Prescription Drug coverage.
