City of Yuba City is Hiring a Water Treatment Plant Operator II/III (Limited Term) Near Yuba, CA

JOB
The City of Yuba City is currently recruiting for a Water Treatment Plant Operator II/III (Limited Term)!Under general supervision, performs daily operation of the Water Treatment Facility, routine preventative maintenance such as lubrication, operating adjustments, cleaning and minor corrective maintenance on plant equipment, and performs other related work as required. Operators do not have supervisory responsibilities.The limited term position ends March 14, 2025. Should any of the current operations staff retire or leave City employment during the limited term period, the limited term position may be appointed to the regular full time Water Treatment Plant Operator II/III position.Water Treatment Plant Operator II: This is the entrance level for the Water Treatment Plant Operator series. Incumbents work initially under immediate supervision and receive detailed instructions and training on assignments. Incumbents generally work within an established framework of set procedures in performing assigned tasks. Work is reviewed frequently and assessed for results achieved. Water Treatment Plant Operator III: Incumbents work within an established framework of set procedures in performing assigned tasks and are expected to perform a variety of journey-level maintenance, repair, and water operation tasks with general supervision and minimum instruction. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Any relevant combination of education and experience that would demonstrate the knowledge and skills outlined below is qualifying. A typical way of gaining the skills is: Water Treatment Plant Operator II: Completion of formal or informal education sufficient to ensure the ability to read and write at a level required for successful job performance; and one (1) year of recent, full-time increasingly responsible work experience in a water related field performing the duties outlined below.Please see job description for a complete list of essential functions and duties.Water Treatment Plant Operator III: Completion of formal or informal education sufficient to ensure the ability to read and write at a level required for successful job performance; and two (2) years of recent, full-time increasingly responsible work experience at a water treatment plant performing the duties outlined below. Please see job description for a complete list of essential functions and duties. Licenses and/or Certifications Required: Possession of a valid California driver license. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a physical disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Water Treatment Plant Operator II: Possession of a valid California Grade II or higher Water Treatment Plant Operator Certificate. Within two (2) years of appointment, a Grade III Water Treatment Plant Operator Certificate and Grade I Distribution System Operator Certificate must be obtained. Water Treatment Plant Operator III: Possession of a valid California Grade III or higher Water Treatment Plant Operator Certificate and Grade 1 Distribution System Operator Certificate within two (2) years of appointment, a Grade II Distribution System Operator Certificate must be obtained.It is the incumbents' responsibility to maintain valid California Water Treatment Plant and Distribution System Operator Certifications at the required levels.
