Job Description

To assist in and improve the development, support, and tracking of student behavior management and provide instructional services to students. Involves complex knowledge of behavior management strategies and solutions.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • An associate’s (or higher) degree, two years post post-secondary study,
  • Ability to understand and implement the school/program's student discipline/attendance policies and manage student behavior effectively
  • Ability to interact effectively and collaboratively with individuals and groups of all ages using conflict resolution skills in response to crisis situations
  • Ability to formulate and implement ideas for development of individual behavior management and attendance plans
  • Ability to collect, record, store, retrieve, assimilate, organize, and utilize information and records efficiently in support of school behavior management and attendance programs
  • Ability to utilization of a variety of de-escalation strategies
  • Ability to use physical interventions, applying district-approved training and certification

Preferred:

  • Implement behavioral support plans and protocols that may include physical interventions
  • Assist students in various settings to meet their educational goals using appropriate strategies, methods, materials, and/or equipment
  • Assist with classroom management and maintaining student discipline
  • Assist with student data collection and record-keeping as directed
  • Assist with the organization of classroom materials and disinfecting supplies as needed

Essential Responsibilities

  • Immediate, on-call behavior supports
  • Follows and maintains knowledge of all policies and procedures 
  • Implements Behavior Support Plans as prescribed and collects data objectively to inform the plan; reports to teachers and communicates effectively
  • Assists students with behavioral support including, but not limited to, transitions, social skill development; reinforces previously learned concepts
  • Works directly with students with a variety of behavioral needs.
  • Assists students with tracking assignments and managing behaviors.
  • Supervises assigned students and escorts to various activities (including, but not limited to playground, hallways, cafeteria, field work, and other places where students may gather); maintains a positive and proactive environment during activities in a variety of school settings ensuring safety at all times.
  • Confers with teaching staff on behavior progress of students.
  • Evaluates students' behavioral progress as directed by the teacher.
  • Maintains a safe environment for students at all times.
  • Follows a prescribed daily schedule as outlined by the teacher.
  • Instructs students in small groups and one-on-one settings, teaching behavioral strategy during instructional activity as necessary to achieve goals and objectives
  • Helps students develop positive interpersonal relationships with peers and adults; promoting safety of the students by helping them develop self-confidence

Other Professional Responsibilities

  • Lunch/recess supervision as needed 
  • Occasionally attend off-site fieldwork as needed

Working Conditions:

  • Collaborate regularly with counseling and leadership team
  • Maintain emotional control under stress
  • Work with frequent interruptions
  • Follow City VIew policies, work procedures, and reasonable requests by proper authority
  • Maintain the integrity of confidential information relating to students and staff

Time Commitment

  • Part time and full time options available between 8-4 Monday - Friday with an 11 month calendar

Compensation Package

  • Pay range $21.63 - 26.45 per hour depending on experience
  • Required participation in Oregon PERS.
