Position Overview

The AmeriCorps Member Experience (ACME) Manager is responsible for coordinating a variety of activities across the site to promote the quality of experience and engagement for AmeriCorps Members -- from their confirmed program acceptance through and beyond their year of service. The ACME Manager serves on an Impact Operations team that coordinates Impact resource management, systems, compliance and administration, while interfacing directly with Corps members and representatives from across the site to ensure an aligned, coherent and immersive AmeriCorps Member experience.

RESPONSIBILIITIES

Learning and Development

Manage Learning and Development (L&D) Calendar Execution and Logistics (45%)

  • Oversee planning and logistics for learning sessions and special events, including Basic Training Academy, Mid-Year Summit, and regular training days.
  • Collaborate with internal staff and external partners to deliver properly sequenced and reviewed training sessions.
  • Secure and set up training spaces, ensuring all materials and supplies are available.
  • Oversee learning and development logistics and yearlong scope and sequence for all ACMs.
  • Maintain the database of site learning information, including trainers, venues, evaluations, and best practices.
  • Support the overall execution of the site learning team strategy.

Content Management, Communication, and Compliance (20%)

  • Ensure learning content is posted, available, and updated.
  • Develop and implement a communication plan that aligns with the learning calendar and provides updates to the site.
  • Oversee the process for completing compliance trainings and certifications (e.g., CPR, Mandated Reporting).
  • Maintain inventory of afterschool programming curriculum.
  • Create and update the SSC calendar for tracking blackout dates and key site holidays.
  • Curate content for and send corps newsletter.

Organizational Initiatives and Site Support (10%)

  • Engage in discussions and training on diversity, inclusion, equity, and belonging.
  • Partner with City Year Columbia’s departments and staff to ensure site-wide goals are met.
  • Attend overnight conferences as needed and participate in relevant network-wide meetings.
  • Support in training events as a facilitator and content manager.
  • Participate in site-wide events throughout the year, including Opening Day, MLK Day, Red Jacket Dedication, Annual Luncheon and Graduation.

Recruitment

Develop Recruitment Sourcing Partnerships (25%)

  • Identify and assess youth-facing organizations and educational institutions in Columbia and throughout South Carolina.
  • Build a strategic partnership plan to facilitate recruiting prospects for City Year Columbia.
  • Implement strategies to increase City Year brand awareness among school counselors, faculty, and staff.
  • Identify opportunities to promote City Year service directly to potential applicants through events, community presentations, and workshops.
  • Actively spend time in local high schools cultivating relationships with champions and participate in activities to introduce City Year service.
  • Attend career fairs and visit high schools, community colleges, and universities.
  • Deepen opportunities to source candidates from local school districts.
  • Partner closely with the national Corps Talent Acquisition team to support a successful hand-off from local sourcing to the national application and admissions process.
  • Collaborate with the national recruitment and marketing teams to tell the City Year Columbia story.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of project management and/or event planning experience.
  • 1 year of experience leading, coaching, and/or training young adults.
  • High school degree or GED required; higher education experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the education systems and experience working in a school setting is beneficial.
  • Efficient time management skills and the ability to manage multiple detailed projects simultaneously.
  • Experience developing and executing professional development and engagement activities for young adults.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Awareness of and commitment to diversity, belonging, inclusion, and equity (DBIE) practices.
  • Experience serving on diverse teams required.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills required.
  • Knowledge of the Midlands and surrounding communities preferred.
  • Schedule will occasionally require nights and weekends and will involve periods of travel outside the Columbia.
  • City Year and/or AmeriCorps experience is a plus.
