Position Overview

The Senior Manager, Corporate Partnerships (SMCP) is responsible for supporting the overall efforts of the Corporate Team. The SMCP collaborates with the Development Team and site leadership to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward corporations and corporate foundations. The focus of the SMCP will be relationship management and engagement with our existing portfolio of signature Team Sponsors and Program Sponsors. Specific focus will be on engaging our corporate donor base to raise increased resources, and ultimately, serve more students in Philadelphia.

Job Description

Cultivate and Steward Team & Program Sponsors – 50%

  • In partnership with the Senior Director, Corporate Partnerships (SDCP), provide relationship management for the Team Sponsorship ($100,000 ) and Program Sponsorship ($25,000 ) program; a robust existing portfolio of roughly 30 corporate and foundation partners
  • Ensure the successful stewardship and retention of Team and Program Sponsors by managing appropriate frequency of outreach, appreciation, impact reporting, and involvement
  • Project manage and facilitate between 1 and 4 engagement opportunities for each Team and Program Sponsor, such as Meet & Greets with Student Success Coach (SSC) teams, school tours, and hands-on service opportunities
  • Prepare SSCs for corporate partner engagements
  • Lead the planning and execution of one in-person Corporate Partnership event annually where Team and Program Sponsors and strategic prospects can further connect with City Year Philadelphia’s (CYP’s) mission and network with each other
  • Develop content for Mid-Year and End-of-Year Impact Reports for each Team and Program Sponsor

Donor Portfolio Management – 25%

  • Manage a portfolio of corporate and foundation donors ($1,000 - $25,000) for whom SMCP will be directly responsible to cultivate, solicit, and steward, with the goal of retaining and increasing giving and engagement
  • Support the Events Director in soliciting event sponsorships and encouraging attendance for fundraising events
  • Initiate a minimum of 3 meaningful in-person meetings, phone/video calls, and/or emails a week to strengthen relationships, solicit dollars, and steward gifts
  • Utilize Salesforce as a CRM platform to document and maintain clear and timely records including tracking account activity, meeting and call notes, donor giving, stewardship activities, and giving projections
  • Partner with Regional Grant Writer to develop compelling grant proposals for existing and prospective corporate funders, and lead grant applications for asks between $10,000 - $25,000

Prospect Generation – 15%

  • Work closely with the SDCP to identify, engage, and cultivate a pipeline of corporate prospects that can make annual and multiyear investments at the $10,000 level
  • Leverage existing City Year programs, corporate service days, and events to attract new partners
  • Proactively cultivate relationships with corporate partners whose entry point is an event sponsorship, with the aim of securing Program or Team Sponsorship
  • Support our individual giving team and strategy by engaging individual executives within our corporate partnerships who may be interested in individually supporting City Year

Organizational Initiatives & Site Support – 10%

  • Work closely with the Development team to understand priorities and revenue goals, and develop strategies to meet the team’s needs
  • Collaborate with other site departments, City Year Headquarters’ corporate partnerships team, and other City Year sites on a frequent basis
  • Participate in site and network-wide meetings and calls, providing insight, feedback, and collective problem solving
  • Support and attend all major site events, including fundraisers, service days, training, and other initiatives
  • Engage in structured discussion and training on diversity, inclusion, equity and belonging aimed at developing stronger cultural competency, both individually and collectively as a site
  • Partner with CYP’s departments and staff to ensure that site-wide goals are met, including, but not limited to, the SSC applicant interview process, stakeholder engagement, event and service day participation, and cross-departmental committees

Skills, Knowledge, and Experiences

  • 3 years of relevant experience in relationship cultivation, partner engagement, and/or fundraising, with proven ability to deliver strong, measurable results
  • Bachelor’s Degree or 2 additional years of experience
  • Outstanding ability to communicate with diverse audiences verbally, in writing, and via presentation
  • Strong ability/initiative to work independently and collaborate with folks with diverse needs, expectations, and perspectives, including those not in direct line of authority
  • Efficient project and time management skills; ability to meet deadlines and prioritize multiple projects
  • Willingness and availability to occasionally work irregular hours, such as early mornings, evenings and weekends
