Position OverviewCity Year Los Angeles is seeking an Sr. Project Manager, who is responsible for leading all corps, program, and service team event planning and logistics. They will manage systems and structures to support the AmeriCorps Member experience, development, and program compliance. Reporting directly to the Learning & Instructional Director, the Sr. Project Manager will lead site wide corps appreciation activities, the Senior (SCM) cohort, and the implementation of partnerships that will help support our members during their year of service.
This position is ideal for a collaborative inclusivity focused project manager who can foster belonging and facilitate trust across our community. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with exceptional communication skills that thrives making authentic connections with our AmeriCorps Members (ACMs), staff, and stakeholders.

ResponsibilitiesJob DescriptionStaff and Corps Convenings Management
  • Execute planning & logistics for all corps and Program & Service (ProServe) staff convenings spaces including learning summits and staff-only spaces both virtually and in-person.
  • Oversee logistics (sign ups, locations, catering, parking, etc.) for all corps and ProServe staff convenings, including but not limited to summits, returning AmeriCorps member (RACM) convenings, Leadership after City Year (LACY) events.
  • Work with the Impact Analytics team to create and distribute ACMs schedules for all summits both virtually and in-person, as well as to track LACY survey data.
  • Create and manage corps and staff surveys to collect feedback on Learning & Instruction trainings and service supports (including LACY) to enable ongoing improvement.
  • In partnership with the Career Development Director, analyze, summarize, and share recommendations from ACM and staff feedback as it relates to Leadership After City Year (LACY) and Learning & Instructional related events/tools/trainings/resources.
  • Work with the AmeriCorps Member Experience Director to plan and execute site wide AmeriCorps Member recognition and appreciation activities.
Returning AmeriCorps Member Recruitment and Development
  • Lead Returning AmeriCorps Member interview processes and selections.
  • Support the planning and execution of Returning AmeriCorps Member registration and onboarding.
  • Own communication and follow-up with confirmed Returning AmeriCorps Members to ensure they are prepared and excited for their next year of service.
  • In collaboration with the LA Service Year Advisor, support targeted confirmed ACMs outreach to support engagement and persistence to successfully start their service year.
  • In collaboration with the ACME Director, PSLT , and onboarding team coordinate late start onboarding and support welcoming them into their teams.
  • Develop and lead Senior (SCM) cohort learning and community building, including monthly professional development sessions and 2 retreat per year, in partnership with PSLT .
  • Lead multiple Second Year AmeriCorps Member (SYACM) cohort gatherings through the year.
Program Support
  • Create and coordinate coverage plans and identify supports for school teams in the event of a Program Manager vacancy or leave.
  • Provide coverage and support for school teams during Program Manager transitions and as needed.
  • Serve as the alumni point with headquarters to lead site efforts to promote and foster effective City Year alumni relationships.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team to send weekly newsletters for ACMs to stay informed with service related, post-service related, and community-based news and opportunities.
Organizational Initiatives & Site Support
  • Serve as a member of the onboarding committee to create a cohesive experience for AmeriCorps Members from confirmation through graduation.
  • Participate in the hiring process for first year, second year, and senior AmeriCorps Members throughout the course of the year.
  • Partner with City Year Los Angeles departments and staff through stakeholder engagement, event and service day participation and cross-departmental committees as needed to ensure site-wide goals are met.

  • 4-6 years of work experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of team management with a strong track record of results:

    • Using progress and outcome data to inform team management
  • Commitment to and experience with community service, national service and/or the development of young people as leaders.
  • Candidates with a background in education preferred.
  • Strong track record in building and maintaining productive relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Must have reliable means of transportation.
  • Occasional travel required.
