Overview

As a GIS Developer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and implementing GIS software solutions that leverage spatial data to address business needs and enhance decision-making processes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements, develop technical solutions, and ensure the quality and performance of GIS applications. Proficiency in Python, with a focus on Esri specific libraries like ArcPy and the ArcGIS API for Python, JavaScript, and ESRI products is essential for this role, as you will be leveraging these skills to develop GIS applications, integrate geospatial data, and build geo-processing tools and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • GIS Application Development: Design and develop GIS applications and tools using Python, ArcPy, and JavaScript, leveraging ESRI products such as ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS API for JavaScript.
  • Spatial Data Integration: Integrate and analyze spatial data from various sources, including GIS databases, remote sensing data, and web services, to support project objectives and decision-making processes.
  • Custom Tool Development: Develop custom geo-processing tools and scripts to automate spatial analysis, data manipulation, and workflow optimization tasks.
  • Mapping and Visualization: Create interactive maps, dashboards, and visualizations using ESRI tools and libraries to communicate spatial analysis results and insights effectively.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support and assistance to end-users, troubleshoot GIS software issues, and address customer inquiries and requests.
  • Documentation and Training: Create and maintain technical documentation, user guides, and training materials for GIS applications and tools.
  • Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Science, or a related field.
    • Proficiency in Python programming language, including experience with ArcPy for GIS automation and scripting.
    • Strong understanding of GIS concepts, spatial data structures, and coordinate systems.
    • Experience with JavaScript programming language and web development frameworks (e.g., React, Angular) for building interactive web-based GIS applications.
    • Familiarity with ESRI products and platforms, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS API for JavaScript.
    • Knowledge of geo-processing tools and spatial analysis techniques for GIS data manipulation and visualization.
    • Strong database management skills, including experience with GIS databases (e.g., Enterprise Geodatabases on SQL Server) and SQL querying.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a passion for delivering high-quality GIS solutions.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with geospatial data formats and standards, such as Shapefile, GeoJSON, and OGC standards (e.g., WMS, WFS).
    • Knowledge of spatial analysis libraries and tools, such as Pandas, GDAL, Fiona, and Shapely.
    • Previous internship or coursework in GIS development, geospatial analysis, or related fields.
    • Understanding of agile software development methodologies and practices.
