The Oberon Group is seeking a General Manager for our newly opened Clara and Cafe 77, both located with New York Historical Society. The role requires a strategic thinker, problem solver, multi-tasker, and an excellent communicator who will uphold the Oberon’s standards of excellence in all areas including team management, financial accountability, quality of service, and guest relations. We are working in partnership with the New York Historical Society, one of NYC’s oldest museums. In addition to managing the restaurant and the cafe, the GM is responsible for communicating and working in partnership with the museum. 

• 3 years of experience in restaurant management, preferably in Manhattan
• Approachable and intelligent leader who is able to motivate, manage, and develop a large and diverse team
• Organized leader and strong communicator who is able to be the point person with the museum.
• Superb time management skills with the ability to prioritize and organize work, and have timely follow up and execution. 
• Full availability, including nights and weekends

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee and execute management of day-to-day operations of the restaurant and cafe
• Manage the FOH team and liaise with BOH team, overseeing the floor, creating a positive work environment, driving sales and creating exceptional guest experiences
• Manage hiring, training, payroll, and scheduling of Clara and Cafe 77
• Ensure compliance with department of health standards, maintaining superior cleanliness and sanitation throughout the restaurant.
• Identify potential safety hazards/maintenance issues and initiate corrective action; ensuring the restaurant is safe for both employees and guests.
• In collaboration with management team, manage and be accountable for restaurant financials, take an active and eager interest in the P&L
• Maintain quality and standards of culture, food, drink, service and atmosphere
• Maintaining and overseeing cafe systems for inventory, ordering and service
• Foster a dynamic, enjoyable and inclusive culture
