ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The primary responsibility of the Medical Assistant is to provide ancillary clinical support to the clinic providers to ensure patient care is delivered in an effective and efficient manner.
This is accomplished by working collaboratively with the primary care provider (PCP), teamwork among the other medical assistants in the clinic, and effective and consistent communication.
The medical assistant provides compassionate, competent care and is a patient advocate for quality. Compliance with legal regulations (OSHA, HIPAA, Universal Precautions, etc.
and company policies and procedures is a daily function. Preparing the patient for the examination includes but is not limited to taking vital signs, history, drawing blood per PCP orders, authorizing prescription refills, managing inventory of medical supplies and equipment, keeping the clinical areas of the office clean and safe for patients, and provides health education for patients under the provider’s direction.
