Special Education Teacher - Resource Room

The Special Education Teacher will work with students who have a range of learning, emotional, physical, and developmental disabilities. This role involves creating and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs), collaborating with school staff and families, and using effective teaching strategies to promote students' academic and social growth.
Key Responsibilities:

• Individualized Instruction: Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each student's needs.
• Classroom Management: Create a supportive and structured classroom environment.
• Assessment: Conduct assessments to determine students' educational needs and progress.
• Collaboration: Work closely with general education teachers, specialists, and families to support students' learning.
• Adaptation: Modify curriculum and instruction methods to accommodate students' varying needs.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of students' progress and IEP goals.
• Support: Provide emotional and social support to students, promoting a positive learning experience.
• Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training and development to stay current with best practices in special education.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.

Certification: Valid Indiana teaching certification in Special Education.

Experience: Prior experience working with children with special needs is preferred.

Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
