Clark College is Hiring a Program Manager A - Native Plant Center Manager Near Vancouver, WA

Clark College is currently accepting applications for a full-time, permanent classified Program Manager A for the Native Plant Center. The Program Manager A will manage the daily operations as well as annual events such as plant sales for the Native Plant Center. This position will supervise the work of others and maintain a welcoming environment. This position will be scheduled Monday - Friday for 35 hours per week (87.5% FTE). At Clark, we value equity, diversity, and inclusion. We are committed to growing, learning, and supporting our employees.JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Create, maintain, and foster partnerships with local agencies for contracts and agreements by attending partner meetings and coordinating plant propagation and delivery/pick up.
  • Plan and coordinate a minimum of 3 annual community plant sales. 
  • Plan, manage, and implement plant propagation and grow outs for community sales and contracts.
  • Send invoices for contracts and agreements. 
  • Create and manage quarterly calendars for student service-learning opportunities and communicate with faculty to advertise in their classes.
  • Set up and run greenhouse portion environmental science and biology classes and assist with field restoration activities for classes as needed.
  • Keep track of the Center’s budget for all NPC activities and present to supervisor monthly
  • Interview, hire, and manage student work study staff and interns.
  • Participate in required campus trainings. 
  • Perform related duties as required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:
Candidates will be evaluated based on application materials, including the supplemental questions and personal interview(s), and will be required to demonstrate competencies in the following areas:
  • Associate degree with coursework in botany, ecological restoration, ecological field studies or other natural sciences
  • One (1) year of full-time experience in plant propagation, nursery management or related field OR three (3) years of part-time experience.
  • Supervisory experience with people of diverse backgrounds, ages, and cultures
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Word, Excel, and Power Point and Outlook.
  • Experience with Google Drive and Google Docs.
  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Ability to work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
  • The initial appointment will include a 6-month probationary period and the employee will earn permanent status after successfully completing probation.

SALARY/BENEFITS:
Salary Range: $3,670 - $4,938 per month (based on the full time equivalency of: $4,194 – $5,643) | Step A-M (commensurate with qualifications and experience) | Range: 48 | Code: 107R 
Successful candidates typically start at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases.
