The Clark County District Attorney's Office is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Departmental Systems Technician position. This position will manage and support end user computing products, processes, applications and services that enable users to conduct business in an efficient manner. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the configuration, implementation, operation and maintenance of departmental hardware and software solutions. This position may also provide technical direction to peers in support of operational or project-based initiatives. The position will be a part of the Business Systems Team and report to the IT Project Manager.
This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

Some positions may be Grant Funded. Grant Funded positions are subject to continuation based on availability of grant funds and the employee will be terminated without right of appeal when such funds are no longer available.
Employment is contingent upon the results of a background investigation, which may include both a pre-and post-offer background check for positions within the District Attorney’s Office.
Education and Experience: Equivalent to completion of two years of college level course work with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or a closely related field and two (2) years of full-time experience in personal or mini-computer hardware and software usage and/or development in a departmental environment. Additional experience as outlined above may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis.

Licensing and Certification: Specified positions may require a valid Nevada Class C Driver's License at time of appointment depending upon the department assigned and how many different work sites for which the individual has responsibility.
Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.
Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
Installs and tests mid-range, mini-computer and/or personal computer and network hardware and software; recommends systems upgrades and investigates alternatives, depending upon defined departmental needs. Prepares hardware and software documentation for departmental usage; indexes, files and makes available prepared information and documentation for departmental user staff. Trains departmental staff in the use of hardware and software, including printers; serves as the "help desk" to answer questions and resolve operating problems; makes operating adjustments and notifies maintenance contractors when service or repair are required. Coordinates departmental activities with activities of the centralized mainframe system staff; may serve as liaison between the department and information systems staff. Plans and develops test data to validate new or modified applications; designs input and output forms and reports using standard software options. Performs direct data entry, data backup and computer and peripheral equipment operations, depending upon the department to which assigned. Maintains records and prepares periodic and special reports of work performed; maintains inventories of departmental computer hardware and software. Maintains current knowledge of hardware, software and network technology and recommends upgrades to departmental management. Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team. Uses standard office equipment, including a computer, in the course of the work; may drive a personal or County motor vehicle or be able to provide for appropriate transportation to and from various departmental work sites.
Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment, stamina to remain seated and maintain concentration for an extended period of time, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
