The Modification Technician will perform a variety of complex assembly, repair, and modification operations as needed to complete the manufacturing of products and finished goods. The position will be responsible to modifying forklifts and material handling equipment to meet customer orders by adding optional components to completed products. Essential Functions:Responsible for final assembly, repair, and modification of forkliftsInstall uprights and various attachments and options on forkliftsOccasional welding tasksOccasional painting and prep dutiesPrepare trucks for final shipment to customer (painting, decaling, verifying options and specs on truck to ensure it matches with order.Rework various parts to accommodate forklift requirements Duties will include troubleshooting, inspection, testing and repairingPerform Quality Inspection on material handling equipmentMaintain records of repairs and complete all necessary paperwork associated with the documentation of all service and repairs. Must perform all duties within production schedule and in accordance with engineering, quality and production standards.Must perform all duties with minimal errors and in a safe manner.Will provide back up support to other departments as needed. Minimum Qualifications:Working knowledge of electrical and/or gas automotives systems, pneumatics and hydraulics systems; Minimum one-year experience in complex repair & assembly on Forklifts and or other heavy machineryAbility to lift at least 50 lbsMust be able to carry out verbal and written instructions.Must score at least 70% on the CLARK Complex Assembly Test Good mechanical aptitude is a must.Position will require working overtimeMust have basic welding and painting knowledgeMust have forklift operator experienceBasic computer skills and abilty to read blueprintsMust be motivated and able to work in a self directed environmentAttend scheduled training classesResponsible for meeting all safety requirements and policies and maintain a safe work environmentParticipate in the 5s program and maintain a neat, organized and safe work areaParticipate in continuous improvement activities and initiatives Physical / Environmental Conditions:The position is exposed to the warehouse distribution and distribution environment which is described as follows:May encounter loud noise, varying temperatures (including heat during summer and from the operation of equipment. Various machinery and equipment may generate loud noise and vibration. The incumbent may come into contact with oil, grease, paint, solvents and other potentially hazardous materials. The incumbent may also encounter dust, fumes, flying debris, and fast moving machinery, such as forklift trucks.
