Job DescriptionJob SummaryThe Lab Technician performs work in our Jefferson Hills Fuels & Lubricants and Condition Monitoring Services (CMS) Labs running tests and examining data results of fuels, lubricants, and oils.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Log samples upon receipt, contact customers with any questions/concerns.
  • Perform routine diagnostics of fuels, lubricants, and oils.
  • Assist in lab testing while working safely and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines for quality assurance.
  • Set-up, adjust, and operate laboratory equipment for which you have been adequately trained using sound laboratory practice; this includes performing basic maintenance on the equipment.
  • Assist co-workers in other lab areas as needed.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as needed and required by management.
We recognize that these are niche responsibilities, so an inquisitive mind, a great attitude, and an ability to both learn from others and work on one’s own is equally important to us as experience performing all or some of these tasks. This role may be customer-facing, so a customer-centric and professional communication style is essential.
Qualifications & Competency Requirements
  • An Associates or Technical degree in a science-related field is required.
  • Safety-first mentality, including always wearing proper PPE, maintaining a clean work area, and communicating any potential hazards on the job.
  • Instrumentation experience should include Spectrometer, Viscometer, Wear Index, FTIR, Particle Count, Karl Fischer, TAN, and Microscopes.
  • Commitment to Clark’s QA/QC program, including uncompromised integrity in providing results and data.
  • Must be able to read, interpret, and provide feedback on internal SOPs.
  • Must have good reasoning ability and basic computer skills including Outlook, MS Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to collaborate with teammates but also perform tasks on one’s own.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including basic use of email, information sharing software, etc.
  • Make appropriate entries in log workbooks and enter data in our Lab Information Management System (LIMS) to ensure validity and traceability of information.
  • Available to work evening/second shift and willing to work overtime when necessary.
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Able to lift, carry, move, and transport objects of up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to pass drug screening and background checks.
  • Must have reliable transportation/be able to manage daily commute into the lab.

This is a Non-exempt, hourly position.
