Job Summary

Ambassadors are a vital part of the Achieve Atlanta programming because, as peer mentors, they have frequent interactions and contact with Scholars.

Ambassadors are selected for their enthusiasm for learning, desire to be resourceful, helpfulness to Scholars in transition, and commitment to excellence.

They are expected to be able to manage multiple competing interests and create and maintain appropriate boundaries with Scholars.

The ideal candidate is a 2020, 2021, or 2022 Achieve Atlanta Scholar who understands what it means to attend high school in Atlanta Public Schools and has experience at the post-secondary institution that will enable him / her to effectively connect to the Scholars.

Basic expectations include :

• Availability to attend Achieve Atlanta-sponsored and campus events for Scholars;
• Maintenance of a minimum 2.5 institutional GPA, with a 3.0 preferred institutional GPA; and
• Commitment to work for an entire calendar year (Summer, Fall, and Spring terms).

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to) :

Partnering with the Campus Support Team, Achieve Atlanta staff, and Non-Profit Partners (if applicable) over the summer to :

o Provide social and emotional support to new and returning Scholars through outreach activities using phone calls, email, and texting platforms.

Ambassadors also will attend and connect to students at Achieve Atlanta-sponsored events.

o Plan activities and events for the academic year that support persistence and completion for Scholars.

o Contribute social media content that can be shared via Achieve Atlanta's social media platforms to build community among Scholars, inform Scholars and their families of important deadlines, and build a culture of post-secondary success in Atlanta.

Partnering with the Campus Support Team, Achieve Atlanta staff, and Non-Profit Partners (if applicable) during the academic year to :

o Meet with Scholars to understand their needs and provide guidance and support.

o Facilitate activities and events that support persistence and completion for Scholars.

o Attend all Achieve Atlanta-sponsored events.

o Share social media content with Achieve Atlanta staff.

• Communicate regularly with the Campus Support Team, Achieve Atlanta College Success staff and the Non-Profit Partner (if applicable) to identify Scholar needs or concerns and discuss solutions.
• Provide feedback to Achieve Atlanta on the role and participate in the hiring, onboarding and transition of new Ambassadors once tenure has been completed as an Ambassador.

Required Qualifications

THIS POSITION IS ONLY FOR CURRENTLY ENROLLED CLAYTON STATE STUDENTS!

Maintain a minimum 2.5 institutional GPA, with a 3.0 preferred institutional GPA

• 2020, 2021, or 2022 Achieve Atlanta Scholar
• CSU Student
• Maintaining academic and SAP requirements.
