Clear Creek Independent School District is Hiring a GBCDHH – Audiologist Near League, TX

Primary Purpose Provide advanced professional skills in audiologic diagnosis, evaluation, and (re)habilitation and to provide administrative management skills in directing the audiology programs in the Galveston-Brazoria Cooperative for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (GBCDHH) program. Actively engage in actions that contribute to the overall mission and strategic plan of Clear Creek ISD.
Qualifications Education/Certification/LicensureMaster’s degree in audiology from an accredited college or university
Clinical competency in audiology certification
Texas state licensure in audiology and hearing aid dispensing
Special Knowledge/SkillsEffective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work well with children
Knowledge concerning educational effects of hearing loss
Knowledge of classroom and personal amplification systems
Knowledge of current state and federal mandates regarding identification/intervention issues for children with auditory difficulties
Ability to maintain confidentiality
ExperienceMinimum of 5 years successful audiology experience, preferably in an educational setting
Minimum of 2 years working with pediatric population, preferably in an education setting
Major Responsibilities And Duties
  • Administer a full range of behavioral audiometric and electrophysiological tests to students or patients being seen for audiologic assessment to determine present functional audiologic status, including present hearing aid fitting and auditory skill level.
  • Identify auditory system function as to the degree, nature, and site of damage to the auditory system, the student’s/patient’s auditory capabilities in an instructionally related setting, and appropriate referral needs.
  • Ensure the proper fit and functioning of hearing aids and other amplification systems.
  • Plan, conduct, and direct habilitative and rehabilitative programs addressing the students/patient’s auditory skills levels, amplification or assistive listening device needs, and instructional needs in the area of audition.
  • Provide written reports on diagnostic findings, treatment used, and progress made.
  • Provide assistance in developing/implementing individual auditory educational plans.
  • Provide assistance in the development of appropriate acoustic environments, hearing loss identification programs, and hearing conservation programs.
  • Manage the use and calibration of audiometric equipment.
  • Assist in evaluating the quality and effectiveness of the audiology service program, assessing areas of need, and making recommendations to improve services.
  • Assist in the development of department budget and monitoring of operational funds in relation to the maintenance and acquisition of hearing aids, assistive listening devices, audiologic equipment, auditory assessment tools, and hearing aid maintenance supplies.
  • Coordinate the recruitment, evaluation, professional development of audiology support staff, including visiting graduate and undergraduate students in speech pathology and audiology; supervise support staff.
  • Serve as a professional resource to patients, students, educators, health care professionals, and outside agencies concerning audiology.
  • Coordinate referrals from ECI, member districts, and serve as educational liaison with newborn hearing screening programs in the community.
  • Provide assistance and training to nursing staff or member districts regarding follow-up of failed hearing screenings.

  • Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers.
  • Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.
  • Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal).
  • Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.
