Duties
  • Develops installation procedures that outline responsibilities for the execution of the FAP. Develops and conducts and/or supervises the conduct of a wide variety of psycho-educational training programs
  • Assesses the special needs of active duty, and retired soldiers, and their family members residing on the installation and in the surrounding community.
  • Oversees all areas of operation regarding the installation Family Advocacy Program
  • Identifies trends and adjustments to be made in the administration of the FAP. Serves as the Commander's primary and subject matter expert on all matters involving domestic violence.
  • Provides Command information regarding emerging prevention and treatment issues and trends and results of prevention programs conducted
  • Provides crisis intervention/referral for active-duty military and family members
  • Oversees the support of 24-hour Domestic Violence notification via use of crisis lines. Requirements Conditions of Employment
  • Position requires on-call to address reports and incidents of child abuse and neglect, domestic abuse, and problematic sexual behavior in child and youth during after normal tour of duty.
  • A Secret security clearance required.
  • This position is an Emergency-Essential Position.
  • Public Law 101-647, Section 231, and Public Law 102-190, Section 1094, require the successful completion of a criminal history background check to serve in this position (Also reference DoDI 1402.5 and AR 608-18)
  • Incumbent is subject to Central Registry Check (Department of Defense Child and Domestic Abuse Reporting System).
  • This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
  • Selectees must meet the requirements of the Department of Defense Instruction 6400.01, dated May 2019.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be on-call to address reports and incidents of child abuse and neglect, domestic abuse, and problematic sexual behavior in child and youth during after normal tour of duty.
  • In accordance with DoDI 6400.01, the Family Advocacy Program Manager will at the minimum have the following: (1) A master's or doctoral level degree in the behavioral sciences from an accredited U.S. university or college. (Continued below) * (2) The highest licensure in good standing by a State regulatory board in either social work, psychology, or marriage and family therapy that authorizes independent clinical practice. (Continued below) * (3) Five years of post-license experience in child abuse and neglect and domestic abuse. (4) Three years of experience supervising licensed clinicians in a clinical program.(These requirements will be verified by civilian personnel and management) Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document . Basic Requirement for Family Advocacy Program Manager:
  • Degree:. A Degree from an accredited university and full licensure in the field of Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy.. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR
  • Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR
  • Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1.) Analyzing trends through various data points and apply that knowledge to prevention plans and development of curriculum to prevent negative trends, 2.) Facilitating group discussions regarding all applicable laws, policies, and regulations regarding child abuse and domestic violence and the prevention of child abuse and domestic violence, and 3,) Experience conducting non-clinical psycho educational programs to both small and large groups. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Psychology, Psychiatry, Sociology, Counseling or Social Work. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. DPG is physically remote, entirely self-sufficient with government housing available for Soldiers, civilians, and Contractors.
